Figure Animation Workshop

Practice mimicking real models motion. This will give you a great base knowledge and feeling of anatomy and organicness, the same way Figure Drawing does for your artistic knowledge, but focused on motion.

The sessions are meant to boost your observation and reference analysis skills and teach about the real world complexity. It's a great fit for any level of animator or animation style.

You will be preparing yourself to create this kind of motion and it will help you to understand stylization and cartoons by knowing the real world rules to break them.

WHO IS IT FOR

The workshop is aimed at animators of any levels. You will need a working knowledge of Maya animation and how to use a Rig.

OBSERVE

At each session there will be a proposed reference for everyone to use. At the beginning the instructor will show the key points of observation and demonstrate the best ways to animate it.

GUIDED PRACTICE

After the initial brief, you will try it for yourself. The instructor will be switching from their own screen to the participants screen, to give advice and tips

Q&A

During and after the session the participants are free bring up any questions or ask for any advice.

Instructor

Fernando Herrera, founder, has over 15 years of experience in animation and has been teaching for the past 10, Fernando is an Annie Award winner for his work in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and VES Award Nominee for Slumberland. Fernando contributed to projects in various medias. He has worked at Industrial Light and Magic as a Senior Animator. Previously an Animation Supervisor at Framestore, and a Lead Animator at MPC.
